WEBMASTER'S NOTE

This web site is dedicated to my late father, Judge Joseph M. Guarino of Houston, Texas and to the other men who served their country in World War II aboard the USS LST 494.  My dad was 20 years old and fresh out of midshipman's school when he was assigned to the USS LST 494 as  her gunnery officer.  He served on the 494 in the European Theater and participated in the Invasion of Normandy on Omaha Beach and the Invasion of Southern France.  Dad later served as the executive officer on the USS LST 375 in the Pacific Theater.  Dad was a State District Judge in Houston.  Dad passed away on October 18, 2010. He is survived by his beloved wife Della Grace, his three children and six grandchildren. Compiling this web site has truly been a labor of love.  God bless you dad!
